SOULAJAR
Soulajar has gone through many developmental stages of concocting the right formula for its funky and soul-driven sound. The band originated in Bakersfield, California in August of 2002 when drummer Brian Boozer and guitarist Ryan Fergon were introduced by a shared friend. They began playing and writing songs together exclusively. In search for likeminded members to collaborate with, they began to audition and jam with many different musicians until being introduced to bassist Greg Bettis in September of 2003. After just a few jam sessions with Greg, the chemistry was undeniable and he immediately became an official member of what was originally called ‘Union Sunset’, but later became known as Soulajar. With the growing need for a singer, they stumbled upon Jim Ranger singing at a church service. The magical soul of Jim’s voice was chilling and exhilarating and thus it became very clear that he was the missing piece the band had been looking for. In August of 2006, Jim Ranger joined the band and they immediately hit the studio to begin recording.
